Sustainable & Adaptive Design
LXM originated from a design competition aimed at repurposing OSB wood planks, a waste material often used as cladding, roofing and site fencing, into multifunctional furniture. The result is a chair, blackboard, and coffee table with an integrated draughts table. The result is a furniture element designed without the use of glue, nails, or additional tools. This approach ensures adaptability and effortless assembly, making LXM a highly versatile and intuitive design. The acronym LXM stands for the graphical representation of the three functions, according to the section of each module: L for the chair, X for the blackboard and M for the table.
More than just an eco-sustainable project, LXM was conceived as a gift to the community that hosted the exhibition. To maintain a lightweight yet visually striking aesthetic, the circular game pieces (representing draughts pawns) were removed and stored in a dedicated compartment at the back of the chair, enhancing both functionality and design appeal.
